May 17th is World Hypertension Day

Take a look at some of our MEDUCOM team reducing their stress during a busy work day!

Every year, World Hypertension Day is held to raise awareness on this too common condition. According to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, hypertension is a leading risk factor for stroke and heart disease. Elevated blood pressure makes the heart pump harder and can quietly damage your body for years before symptoms develop.

The World Hypertension League has formed an international committee and runs a worldwide campaign to raise awareness of hypertension. The 2018 theme is “Know Your Numbers.”

At MEDUCOM we worked to lower our blood pressure by tackling a common workplace problem – high stress. It’s a leading risk factor in high blood pressure and relieving stress can also help with overall health as high stress levels contribute to poor lifestyle choices around diet and physical activity. We practiced some meditation techniques followed by some yoga.
