Today is International Day of Action for Womens Health

May 28th is observed globally as the International Day of Action for Women’s Health. Today, activists, allies and international agencies come together to continue to fight for women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) around the world. Access to universal healthcare, vaccines, safe contraceptives and safe and legal abortions are all central to this cause.

The pandemic has disproportionately affected women’s health and overall well-being, particularly those living in the Global South. It’s exposed and worsened long-standing social and gender inequalities, especially in areas of the world where public healthcare systems are dismal and vaccines are inaccessible.

Let’s stand together for women’s rights to health, bodily autonomy, non-discrimination, and freedom from violence!
