Team Principle 6.2

In a fast-paced work environment, mistakes are inevitable; however, at MEDUCOM, we see this as a valuable learning opportunity and growth experience for the company and the individuals involved.

At MEDUCOM, when a mistake is made, we are encouraged to follow these steps:

  1. Take accountability—openly communicate mistakes with the team and managers in a timely fashion

  2. Discover the root of the problem—get all the facts and take inventory of contributing factors

  3. Analyze, discuss, and re-tool—reflect on areas of optimization and identify preventative measures

  4. Apply learnings to ensure the same mistake is not repeated

Importantly, learnings are regularly shared amongst the team during monthly department meetings, through our optimization reporting system, and at weekly Friday gatherings which allows us to share examples of errors with the team to help improve our internal processes and optimize our roles.

Making mistakes is all part of the learning process and it is important to dedicate effort to evaluate the situation to foster resiliency. It is important to recognize that each mistake can be an opportunity to grow and gain valuable wisdom along the way.
