Manager Principles 11.2

How often have you tried to make yourself more palatable to people at the expense of your personal and professional goals? With our increasingly connected world, it’s easy to get caught up on what other people are thinking.

In your personal and professional life, being disliked is inevitable…but these opportunities can be used to build confidence and resilience in the face of discomfort. At MEDUCOM, everyone is hired for their individual strengths and aligned values, not their ability to be liked by all. We are encouraged to focus on our responsibilities and to challenge the status quo by asking difficult questions and speaking up with new ideas.

Being liked is a temporary satisfaction but does not contribute to sustainable success and growth. Prioritizing our own motivations and responsibilities versus acceptance from others reminds us of our strengths and capabilities. We are lucky to work with a shared value system at MEDUCOM that keeps us accountable to accomplishing our goals and sharing in the success.
