Raising Awareness on World Alzheimer’s Day
September is World Alzheimer’s Month and September 21st is World Alzheimer’s Day. This year, the theme of World Alzheimer’s Month is #LetsTalkAboutDementia. Talking about dementia can raise awareness and help to end the stigma associated with dementia.
We had a look through the World Alzheimer’s Month Toolkit and thought we’d share a few interesting facts. Did you know:
Every 3 seconds, someone in the world develops dementia
Symptoms of dementia aren’t limited to memory loss, they also include: difficulty in finding the right words or understanding what people are saying, difficulty in performing previously routine tasks, as well as personality and mood changes
By 2050, it is estimated 152 million people will have dementia
You can reduce your risk of dementia through: physical activity, a healthy diet, challenging your brain, social activity and looking after your heart
We encourage you to learn more about dementia this September! #LetsTalkAboutDementia
