World Glaucoma Week

It’s World Glaucoma Week (WGW) and MEDUCOM hasn’t lost sight of how important it is to protect eye health and preserve vision!

Glaucoma is an optic condition that is often associated with a build-up of pressure in the eye(s), but the pathology is not entirely clear. Many people don’t experience pain or present with early symptoms, so the condition may go unnoticed. Over time, the increased fluid pressure can cause optic nerve damage and lead to vision loss or permanent blindness. Regular eye exams are currently the best prevention.

This year, the WGW goal is to go BIG and Beat Invisible Glaucoma. The World Glaucoma Association and World Glaucoma Patient Association have asked everyone to organize screening events, hosts lectures and contact the media to promote greater glaucoma awareness. We’re going BIG by spreading the word about eye health among the team and keeping an eye on the WGW website for activities and initiatives around the world. We can’t wait to see how you’ll get involved!
