World Thrombosis Day

Did you know 1 in 4 people die from conditions caused by thrombosis worldwide?

This noteworthy statistic is one worth sharing with friends, family and colleagues this Saturday October 13thin honor of World Thrombosis Day.

The goals of this year’s campaign, as outlined by the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), include:

  • Highlighting the burden of thrombosis and the need for action, specifically with regards to the morbidity and mortality associated with venous thromboembolism (VTE) and atrial fibrillation (AF).

  • Increasing public awareness and engaging global campaigns on the significance, risks, signs and symptoms of thrombosis.

  • Empowering individuals to talk with their healthcare providers about their risk for thrombosis and prevention.

  • Advocating for "systems of care" to properly prevent, diagnose and treat VTE and AF.
