Olympians in the Making? MEDUCOM Goes to the Velodrome!

We try to arrange monthly after work social activities here at MEDUCOM, where we can get together outside the office and bond as a group. Previous after work activities include golfing, bubble soccer, trivia night and attending local hockey games. Inspired by the recent summer Olympics in Rio, this month the MEDUCOM team took to the velodrome in Milton, ON to see if we had what it takes to be (amateur) track cyclists.

The expansive, sloped track was intimidating at first, but with appropriate training and guidance from the great staff at the Mattamy National Cycling Centre (the only UCI-regulated, class 1 indoor velodrome in Canada), we were comfortable and confident in no time! This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for some of us, but our visit to the velodrome also inspired a few thrill-seeking members of our team to take up track cycling as a new hobby (although I can’t say I am one of them).

This social activity was a great send off to summer and a fun way to regroup before welcoming the busy fall season!
