Laura completed an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Molecular Biology and Genetics, and went on to work at the University of Guelph’s Agriculture and Food Laboratory in Quality Control and Food Microbiology. During this time, she reviewed books for a local bookstore leading to an interest in neuroscience and pursuit of a Master’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Dalhousie University. There, she investigated the roles of neuronal cholesterol biosynthesis and an oxysterol-binding protein-related protein (ORP4) using primary hippocampal cultures, and co-authored two literature reviews on mitochondrial cholesterol.
Her passion for science and writing led her to MEDUCOM, where she combines innovative ideas and diverse scientific knowledge to support client needs.
When she’s not working or jetting back to Halifax to spend time by the ocean, you can find Laura running, cycling or spending time with her family.
