Kira completed an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology and a PhD in Biology, both at York University. During her PhD, she discovered an interest in communicating scientific research and methods, leading to authorship on seven peer-reviewed articles. Her research applied the power of ‘big data’ to characterize pathogen resistance genes in pokeweed, a poorly understood plant that resists virus infection. As a graduate student, Kira honed her skills communicating science to a variety of audiences through teaching, conference presentations, and peer-review of journal articles. She is always excited to apply her broad knowledge base and big-picture thinking to the medical writing field.
In her spare time, you may find Kira attempting a new route at the rock-climbing gym or watching the latest independent film.
