Collaboration with digital experts outside of healthcare could lead to much needed innovation. Tech companies are well established in analysing large amounts of data. Leveraging this could open the doors to a new era of patient care.

IBM’s Watson is a cognitive technology that brings together individual, clinical, research and social data to provide holistic support for clinical decision making. Watson analyzes data along with expert physician opinion to suggest courses of action. It is believed this will provide physicians with greater diagnostic certainty and more informed decision making, creating efficiencies and reducing the burden on the healthcare system.
